Antiquity, the Middle Ages, Modernity. Art, music, philosophy, theology, literature and natural science. Aristotle, the Bible, Bach and Goethe. In a concise manner, with this unique comprehensive course education foundation AILAS provides insight in, and overview of, the varied cultural inheritance at the foundation of our society and its habits. To this end we use carefully selected original sources.
During the spring AILAS organizes courses of five meetings of two hours each, across nine weeks (Friday afternoon 20 April until Friday afternoon 15 June at the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam, or Wednesday evening 25 April until Wednesday evening 20 June at a location close to Amsterdam’s Amstel station).
During the summer AILAS organizes an intensive summer school of four days at the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam (2-5 July). Depending on foreign participants this course will be taught in either English or Dutch.
The spring courses and the summer school are offered at bachelor level. Participants are expected to have completed a university degree or to be enrolled at a university. Teachers are attached to Dutch universities. The number of participants is a maximum of fifteen per course.

For students the fees are 375 euros. For professionals they are 450 euros for each participant.
